‘Lost’ has lost steam // January 26th, 2006

Is it just me or has Lost lost(see what I did there?) a lot of steam this season? Nothing really has been accomplished or discovered.

One week a character dies, the next nothing. One week a character runs into the jungle looking for his kid, the next week nothing but a former junkie is freaking out over dreams. And what about the week where they just provided the backstory for Mistereko? So his brother was killed in the drug run, that was the point of the whole episode?? What about that freaky smoke-thing creature? That was only mentioned once since, and it was only between the same characters that witnessed it. They never even mentioned it to the other survivors? Whatever, and don’t get me started on the invisible monster and polar bear from last season or the dude from the bunker earlier this season.

Well, with sweeps coming, Lost better give a lot more answers than questions or I’m going to cut my losses and find something else in this timeslot.

Where I’ve Been // January 23rd, 2006

Several weeks ago, with my last contract coming to an end, a prospective employer asked if was still interested in their job opportunity after the in-person interview, I told them yes. I was interested and expected at least an offer in the coming days. Instead the manager of the position was going to be out until the new year started and that she would make a decision on candidates soon after. But with two days before my contract ending, my manager told me that they would like to extend me for another six weeks. What was I to do? Well, I couldn’t accept an extension when I told the other company I was still interested and I couldn’t accept an extension and then leave if I was given an offer. Plus I didn’t really want to stay.

I’m a genius // January 20th, 2006

MENSA Intelligence Test: “According to MENSA, if you get 19 + of these, you are a “genius”. Only 2 MENSA members achieved full marks. See how well you do.” My score was 25 out of 33 before quiting. 29 before giving up and checking the answers. Yeah, that’s right, 25 29. [via: del.icio.us popular]

Chitika Failure & ContextWeb Review // January 10th, 2006

Some time ago, I decided to remove all the Chitika advertisments on my site. The last straw was the delay in their monthly auditing. As reported in Jensense, this delay even breaks their own terms & conditions. It really is not that big of a deal to me, since I was not making a large sum of money, but it is to others. Right now, with this issue coupled with others, I can no longer recommend Chitika to anyone. I don’t see Chitika improving anytime soon.

In related news, just like my resumes, my blog was rejected by Google for advertising. Probably to many references to other advertisment programs. I decided to try ContextWeb as a contextual advertising program. I don’t know what to really say about ContextWeb, I believe it took two weeks for my account to be activated, the tag generating tool leaves a lot to be desired, and now it seems my color scheme as been overridden by their servers. I didn’t choose those colors, just to let you know. Hopefully the color problem can be resolved, or hopefully Google will accept my site when I have more content down the road.
