In the first 5 to 10 minutes of this movie, all I could see on screen was a rip-off of Paul T. Anderson. Then I saw it was directed by two music video directors, Dayton & Ferris (Who I only remember from a ‘Making the Video’ on MTV where they both came off as very pretentious) and figured that was the reason why and I lowered my expectations.
But then the story started moving and everything changed. And while it wasn’t as funny as some people make it out to be, it was still a really entertaining movie. It doesn’t deserve to be nominated as Best Picture, but it is the best dramatic comedy I have seen in a while. it is filled with a great performances from the entire cast, especially Steve Carell. If you haven’t seen it, I say check it out now that it is available to rent.
